Assisted Shopping Scheme

Many people wish to do their own shopping even though they may need help in doing so. Supporting people by taking them to the shops enables them to continue to make their own choices about the things they want to spend their money on.

Trips are run on a Tuesday and Thursday morning, on a fortnightly basis from Brompton on Swale, Gilling West, Richmond and Colburn to Morrisons at Darlington. We use an adapted minibus which includes a wheelchair lift. There is a driver and support worker who will help you whilst shopping. There is an opportunity to meet in the cafeteria for refreshments before the return journey home where your shopping will be delivered to your door.

There is a small charge for this service

You can either access the service direct by referral from Adult & Community Services or refer direct yourself by contacting the shopping coordinator. An initial assessment would be carried out prior to enrolment on to this service.
