Richmondshire Community Befriending Service
The befriending service is a visiting scheme which provides social support and companionship to older people who live alone and are isolated due to age, illness, disability or geographical locations. We will match you to a suitable volunteer who will visit you regularly, usually once a week for about an hour, to help reduce loneliness.
Where appropriate volunteers can take clients out to assist with shopping, enjoy social events in the community or visit a local café together.
Coordinator: Julie Duffy
You can either access the service direct by referral from Adult & Community Services or refer direct yourself by contacting the Befriending Service Coordinator.
For an informal discussion please contact Julie directly on St John’s number or mobile: 07916669847 or alternatively
All staff & volunteers are Criminal Record Bureau checked (CRB) & have to be registered with the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA)
